Does HostClear cover my city?
HostClear currently covers high-regulation US markets including Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville, Austin, and Honolulu, with additional cities being added on a rolling basis. When you enter your address, we tell you immediately whether your location is covered and what data we have for it.
How current is the compliance data?
HostClear pulls from municipal code databases and city agency portals, and our monitoring system flags updates when ordinances change. For high-churn markets like Los Angeles and New York, we review regulatory sources frequently. When a material change occurs in a city you have a property in, you receive an alert.
What if my city has rules that are hard to interpret?
STR regulations are notoriously ambiguous — many cities use language that is genuinely unclear without legal expertise. HostClear presents what the code states and flags areas of ambiguity where the plain reading is uncertain, rather than oversimplifying. For complex situations, the done-for-you filing service means our team handles the interpretation.
Is the done-for-you filing an add-on, or is it included?
Done-for-you permit filing is available on the Pro plan. Starter and Monitor plans include document generation — we pre-fill the correct forms for your property — but the filing submission itself is a Pro feature. You can see what each plan includes when you sign up.
What happens when regulations change after I've already filed?
HostClear continues monitoring your properties after filing. If a regulation affecting your listing changes — a night cap lowered, a new tax, a permit renewal requirement added — you get an alert with what changed and what action, if any, is required. You are not on your own to discover changes after the initial filing.
